Meet Bravissimo: The Fuller-Bust Lingerie Brand Built Around Fit, Choice and Confidence

I have a small confession: I used to think bra shopping was meant to feel like a minor administrative punishment. Find a size, discover the cup is too small, try another shape, wonder why the straps are staging a rebellion, and eventually buy the least-wrong option. So when I first came across Bravissimo, a brand built specifically around fuller busts, I paid attention.

This is not just a shop with a few larger sizes tucked at the end of a filter. Bravissimo has been helping women find bras, swimwear, sports bras and nightwear since 1995. Its promise is wonderfully direct: choice, comfort and confidence for women with bigger boobs. The US site brings together Bravissimo’s own collections and partner labels, with bra-sized swimwear and fitting advice at the heart of the experience.

If you are new to the name, this is my quick version of why it is worth knowing: Bravissimo understands that fit is not a footnote to style. Fit is what lets the style work in the first place. You can browse its bra collection or go straight to cup-sized swimwear while you get your bearings.

Explore Bravissimo

A brand that started with a practical problem

Bravissimo was founded by women who knew first-hand how life-changing it can be to find a bra that truly fits. The company says it has spent 30 years of expertise learning what makes a great bra for a fuller bust. That origin story matters because it explains the difference in the range. The question is not simply, “Can we make this style in a bigger cup?” It is, “How do we make this shape supportive, wearable and lovely in the sizes our customers actually need?”

There is also a useful bit of perspective on the brand’s fitting mission. Bravissimo says 92% of women wear the wrong bra size. Whether you have recently changed size, never had a proper fitting, or have just been guessing for years, that is a compelling reason to start with its bra fitting advice and size guidance rather than ordering by habit.

  • Founded by women with lived experience of fuller-bust fit.
  • Focused on bras and swimwear from D cup and up on the US site.
  • Offers a famous no-tape-measure fitting approach in its fitting experience.
  • Brings together Bravissimo designs and trusted names such as Freya and Panache.

In other words, this is a specialist with a point of view. It believes women should not have to choose between feeling secure and enjoying fashion, which feels like a fairly reasonable standard to me. The Bravissimo story and fitting experience make that philosophy unusually easy to see.

The range: everyday foundations to holiday pieces

The easiest way to understand Bravissimo is to look at the breadth of the range. You can begin with an everyday T-shirt bra, move into wireless comfort for slow mornings, find a sports bra for movement, and then build a holiday wardrobe around bra-sized bikini tops and swimsuits. That continuity is a big deal. A fuller bust does not become a different body when you leave the bedroom for the beach. I would peek at new arrivals and bestsellers for the quickest overview.

For a soft starting point, the Ultimate Comfort Bra is $82.00. It is non-wired, made from super-soft jersey and uses hidden mesh cups for support. Bravissimo describes the higher-coverage crop-top shape as secure, with partially adjustable straps. It is available from DD through L cups, with extra shaping in the outer cups for the larger end of the range. That sounds like the bra I would reach for on a work-from-home day when I still want to feel properly dressed. The non-wired edit is worth exploring too.

When you want a smoother, more classic silhouette, the Ultimate Smoothing Balconette Bra was listed at $73.50 on sale, reduced from $82.00. The balconette shape is a useful wardrobe basic under square necklines and fitted tops, while the smooth finish keeps it quietly practical. This is the kind of piece that earns its space because it works hard without asking to be the star of the outfit. The wider balconette edit gives you more shape options.

For a partner-brand staple, Freya Essentially Smooth Bra was listed at $66.00. It is a beige, seamless T-shirt style with a balconette shape and sizes from D to HH. If your main test is “will it disappear under a white T-shirt?”, this is a very sensible place to look. Meanwhile, the Panache 365 T-Shirt Bra was listed at $79.00 and adds padded balconette cups, smooth fused edges, optional cross-over straps and double-lined wings. Both are easy to compare in the partner brands section.

  • For soft comfort: choose a non-wired, higher-coverage shape.
  • For fitted tops: look for smooth, moulded or seamless cups.
  • For movement: prioritise a sports bra with the support level your activity needs.
  • For holidays: start with your usual bra size and explore cup-sized swimwear.

I like that the choices here feel genuinely different rather than like the same bra in four colours. You can shop by support need, outfit, mood or destination, which is exactly how most of us actually get dressed.

Why the swimwear feels different

Swimwear is where Bravissimo’s specialist approach becomes especially obvious. A bikini top should not be a scaled-up triangle that you spend all afternoon adjusting. The US swimwear collection is bra-sized, with underwired shapes and fuller-bust support built into the design. That means you can think about print, colour and neckline alongside the fit, rather than treating support as an impossible bonus. The full swimwear range is a good place to compare coverage.

The Crete Bikini Top was listed at $60.50 on sale, reduced from $88.00. In the blue and white print, it is a plunge bikini with underwired support and sizes reaching from DD through K. It feels like a proper holiday piece: a little more glamorous than an everyday basic, but still designed to stay secure while swimming.

The Lake Como Bikini Top was listed at $78.50 on sale, reduced from $88.00. This one has underwired balconette cups and lightweight padding for shape, with sizes from D to HH. The black and white version is polished and graphic, while the red and white colourway looks cheerfully retro. I can imagine pairing it with linen trousers for lunch, which is my favourite kind of swimwear: useful beyond the actual swimming.

My practical swimwear checklist would be:

  1. Check the product’s actual cup range rather than assuming every style fits the same.
  2. Decide whether you prefer plunge, balconette or a higher coverage neckline.
  3. Look at the matching bottoms separately, because swim sets are often sold as separates.
  4. Use the fitting guidance if you are between sizes or buying a new shape.

That last point is important. Even a beautifully designed bra-sized bikini can feel wrong if the band or cup is not right for you. Bravissimo offers fitting guides and advice, plus free returns and exchanges on the US site, so there is some reassurance while you work out what suits your shape.

Support for real life, not just special occasions

A specialist lingerie brand should understand that support is not one single category. Sometimes I need a bra that disappears under a dress. Sometimes I need something soft enough to sleep in. Sometimes I need to walk briskly to catch a train without feeling like my shoulders are doing all the work. That is why I like browsing by support level as well as by style.

The Move 360 Sports Bra was listed at $99.00. It has ultra-soft fabric and a seamless design for fuller-bust support, in a wired shape available from DD to H. The teal colour is a nice reminder that sports underwear does not have to look like gym equipment. Bravissimo also has a wider sports bra collection if your preferred activity needs a different level of control.

See the Bravissimo fit options

One thing I appreciate about this range is the permission to choose for comfort without apologising for it. A non-wired bra is not a lesser choice. A sports bra is not required to be beige. A supportive bikini is allowed to have a dramatic print. Those sound obvious, but the market has not always behaved as if they were.

What makes Bravissimo worth a first look?

For me, it comes down to the combination of specialist knowledge and proper choice. You are not being funnelled towards one sensible black bra because that is all the size run can accommodate. There are smooth basics, pretty balconettes, non-wired comfort, sports support, tank tops with built-in bras, lingerie, nightwear and swimwear. The brand also stocks familiar partner labels, so it can be a useful destination even if you already have a favourite designer.

  • Start with the fit: use the guidance or book a fitting if you can.
  • Choose your everyday need: smooth, soft, lifted or active.
  • Try a second shape: your best T-shirt bra may not be your best plunge bra.
  • Make room for fun: look at colour, print and swimwear once the support is sorted.

Prices and availability can move, especially where sale colours are involved, so I would check the live product page before making a decision. At the time of writing, the examples above ranged from $60.50 sale for the Crete Bikini Top to $99.00 for the Move 360 Sports Bra. That is a helpful spread for exploring the brand without assuming specialist automatically means wildly expensive.

My verdict for a Bravissimo newcomer

If you have spent years compromising on bras, swimwear or sports support, Bravissimo is worth putting on your shortlist. Its story is clear, its sizing philosophy is specialist, and the range is broad enough to meet more than one version of your life. I would start with a fit check, choose one everyday shape and then allow myself to browse the fun stuff. That is how a practical purchase becomes a wardrobe that actually feels like you. The sale edit is a sensible final browse.

And yes, I would absolutely look at the sale section too. A well-fitting bra in a colour you love is a tiny everyday luxury, and I am increasingly convinced we are allowed those.
