London Zoo is one of the most famous animal facilities in the world, where people can observe a great number of animals from different parts of the Earth. Located in Regent’s Park, the zoo has been an important institution in the fields of conservation and education. Here, you will meet five exotic animals that you can come across when visiting London Zoo in the nearest future.

Contents
1. Asiatic Lion2. Bornean Orangutan3. Galápagos Giant Tortoise4. Humboldt Penguin5. Aye-AyeConclusion

1. Asiatic Lion

The Royal Monarch of the Gir Forest

The Asiatic lion which used to inhabit the different parts of Asia is currently only found in the Gir forest of India. These animals are a little bit smaller than their counterparts in Africa but they are no less grand. London Zoo has a pride of Asiatic lions and a visit will give one an insight of their lives as part of the breeding program. These lions are majestic and have a royal look about them; any visitor to the park cannot afford to miss them.

2. Bornean Orangutan

The Gentle Giants of the Rainforest

Bornean orangutans are one of the most interesting animals that can be observed in the zoo. These are highly intelligent and quite gentle apes, which are found in the rain forests of Borneo and they live most of their lives in the trees. You can see them climbing and jumping on the bars of their large enclosure in London Zoo and their muscles are well developed. The zoo has an important function of raising awareness about the orangutans’ challenges that include habitat loss due to deforestation and being hunted for the purpose of being sold as pets.

3. Galápagos Giant Tortoise

The Enduring Giants of the Galápagos

Some of the oldest and most famous inhabitants of London Zoo are Galápagos giant tortoises. These friendly creatures inhabit the Galápagos Islands, and may live to be over 100 years old, reaching rather large proportions. In the zoo, one can observe their slow and deliberate movements and also get information on the measures that are being taken to ensure that these prehistoric creatures are not wiped out from the face of the earth.

4. Humboldt Penguin

The Dapper Divers of the Southern Hemisphere

The Humboldt penguin is also popular among the guests due to its black and white colors and rather friendly disposition. These penguins are found in the coasts of Peru and Chile and are good swimmers and they can be observed diving and swimming swiftly in water at the penguin beach of London Zoo. This vulnerable species has been helped by the breeding program of the zoo and this is why the species has been growing in number.

5. Aye-Aye

The Peculiarities of the Night in Madagascar

The aye-aye is one of the most interesting and unique animals which can be met in London Zoo. Originally from Madagascar, this is a night-dwelling primate with large eyes, a long tail covered with hair and feeding technique that involves beating the trees to get insects. The aye-aye is a very interesting species of a primate due to its strange look and rarity of this animal in the wild, and at the zoo, you can get information about the efforts to preserve this species from the dangers of deforestation.

Conclusion

London Zoo is an excellent chance to get acquainted with some of the most fascinating creatures of the Earth. Starting with the Asiatic lion and ending with the aye-aye, each of these five animals demonstrates the richness of the animal world. Not only do you get to see these amazing animals when you go to the zoo but you also get to help in supporting the cause that is aimed at preserving these animals for future generations.
